It's your wedding day and as such you want to make sure your photo shoot is going to go off without a hitch. Our tips will help make the day go smoothly.

These days, there is a strong desire to look picture-perfect at all times - even the ability to look candid-chic is a skill that everyone must master to rake in the Instagram likes. But being in front of a professional photographer's camera is often a much different situation than your average smartphone.

A professional photographer will be able to capture, with precision, the tiniest details of your wedding day. If you're feeling even the slightest bit uncomfortable, it will translate into your pictures. Your wedding day is supposed to be one of the biggest events of your life - the last thing you are going to want is a photo album filled with awkward pictures. If you want everything to go smoothly once you slip into your wedding dress, you'll need to do some preparation in advance of the big photo shoot.

Today, we prep all you blushing brides for the perfect wedding dress photo-op with these photo taking tips.

Master your poses

There's nothing worse for a new couple than the moment they get their wedding pictures back and find that they look incredibly staged. To avoid this, you should try practicing your poses in the mirror before the big day. You can practice your candid smiles and fake (but real) laughter that makes for some of the most precious wedding photos, but once you get your wedding dress, the real practice begins. Twist and twirl until you find the best angles in your dress!

While everyone has different angles that work for them, you have to keep in mind this one, universal angle - our next point.

Keep your chin up

Make sure your photographer shoots to get all the angles you practiced earlier!

No, we're not telling you to cheer up - we're saying that your best angle is when you have your chin up. Just sitting where you are now, pull your chin up ever so slightly and you will see and feel the difference. When you do this, your neck elongates, stretching out any loose skin, helping you avoid the double chin look in your pictures. You will also get natural, better posture from this position, which will make you look exceptional in your dress!

However, it might look weird to have your chin up in every picture. Make sure your photographer shoots to get all the angles you practiced earlier!

Only shoot natural light

Take your photo shoot outdoors as the natural light will give a nice, soft filter on you and your dress. If you can't get outside, just try doing your photos taken by a window or open door. Natural light makes your pictures look more more organic - so even if you are still jittery after you practicing your angles, this lighting will help diminish the look on your face. Capture images in the right light, and you will have an Instagram-like filter making an ethereal finish.
